Citizenship Award

Town of Webster 2015 Citizenship Award

The Webster Citizenship Award, previously awarded to a Webster Town resident graduating from high school, has taken a new direction since 2012, inviting more and younger residents of Webster to become involved. This year the $350 award will be given to an essay OR media exhibit showing some aspect of who we are and how we live here: past, present or future.

Project Options (Choose ONE of the two)

  • Write a traditional essay, exploring and celebrating our Town. You might write a narrative essay that includes profiles of Webster Town residents—their stories, their hopes, their values, particularly in the context of town history. Or you might write an analytical essay about some aspect of Town Government and how it relates, for example, to land use, to roads, to taxes, to agriculture, to town services, to elections, to employees, to natural disaster response, to global warming . . . or to some other function of Town Government. The essay should be at least 1000 words, every word contributing something.
  • Create a media exhibit exploring and celebrating our Town: video, audio, PowerPoint, website, photo album with text, maps, performance, artwork, or some other exhibit that can be presented or displayed at the Town Hall.

Applicants must be (or include) a resident of Webster Township, between 10 and 19 years old
Applicants doing a Media Exhibit
